My Real Mother

Initial R&D supported by WalesLab, National Theatre Wales (March 2014)

In this project I want to dive into my relationship with my mother. By creating unusual and unfamiliar meetings, we will encounter each other outside of our normal mother-daughter relationship. As part of my Wales Lab week we crossed the Irish Sea by ferry together, which is something we have not done since I was 17, when my parents first drove me to Manchester to go to university. We took the route we drove 17 years ago, only this time we layered that map onto new terrain: Cork-Manchester becomes Cork-Bridgend.

Read my blogs on NTW community to find out more about the trip.

A second R&D phase has been funded by Arts Council of Wales (May 2014). Artistic mentors: Richard and Renny from Quarantine Theatre company.
